Surprise surprise, we have now concluded that the US is both above its own law & can impose its own law on anyone else

Just called my grandma and got a busy signal. Honestly don't remember the last time I heard that sound.

Watching my first college football game of the season and goddamn what a tedious, ostentatious event. People should feel as guilty about funding this as they do paying for wars.

I love sports, athleticism, but I can't handle this self important golden cow bullshit.

I was out of town, my serpentine belt started shredding. Picked up a belt at the parts store but how/when/where I'd get it changed was a big unknown until another shopper in the store offered to change it for me and did so in the cold, dark, rainy parking lot. Wouldn't accept anything for it.
I would like to hear about a time someone, a stranger even, was very kind to you without any prompting, ulterior motive, or strings attached.

The incrementalism of American politics is only tolerable if you're privileged enough to avoid the downsides. For all his faults Thoreau picked up on this pretty quickly - at best government is an expedient but more often than not, it moves too slowly to avoid offensive moral tradeoffs.
This is why I don’t trust the "Never Trump" Bulwark guys. They’re perfectly comfortable with real people being harmed, so long as the harm comes via a process they can label “liberal democracy.”

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

"religion is improving" is the kind of vague subjective bullshit Trump would say

The largest generation in U.S. history is in their 70s now. And Stephen Miller’s podcaster wife thinks it’s suspicious that there’s a huge surge in home health aides.

Look at the kind of person who joined a CrossFit gym in the 2010s and tell me they don't have a mental disorder.

Decoupling muscle and fat comps from definitions of fitness is liberating. You don't need a gym or elaborate equipment or even high intensity. Just find a good hill to walk up and down.
much of fitness culture in the US was developed by people who literally entered sports and physical education instead of going to therapy and the attitudes around intensity and effort kinda reflect that. the smiling Jazzercise folks were right and your football coach / PE teacher was wrong
