If you've somehow found me recently, here's a quick summary. I'm interested in & work on climate-informed ministry, climate-informed children's books, & climate-informed politics. I'm also interested in not having like 142 tabs open on my laptop, but I'm apparently not working on that problem...
I'm working on a free #climate themed #Advent calendar w/ short daily actions & reflections, loosely tied to #lectionary. 2 questions: how would you use it (personal, church, social etc.) & would you prefer a generic or denominationally-specific version (mainly large US denoms like UMC, Catholic...)

This is what America's conservative "Christians" are doing to the planet's most vulnerable children.
I know this is brutal to look at, my friends, but we all need to face reality and bear witness to what happens when greedy billionaires cut off aid to the world's poorest children.

How callous do you have to be to let children suffer and die to line the pockets of the wealthy and well-connected?

Remember, everything is part of the same story.

They need to destroy our democracy and crush dissent because letting billionaires take over the government in order to steal from us isn't popular and a functioning democracy wouldn't allow it.

Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.

I think I’m going to make this my new desktop quote.
The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.

I appreciate all the people recommending the Shock Doctrine. I've been thinking about what makes Trump's use of these tactics a little different.

In recent decades, shock tactics were used mainly to rapidly impose neoliberal economic policies. But what Trump is doing goes way beyond that.

Chaos and confusion. Somebody read @naomiaklein.bsky.social The Shock Doctrine as a manual, it seems. Time for people to read it again for countermeasures also.

This people will literally say it’s game over rather than roll up their sleeves and actually try to do something about the climate crisis, and they think this makes them somehow more honest because its a “hard truth.” But it’s just as unscientific as climate denial.
