I love being a youth pastor so much. It’s my first Sunday of parental leave (started it a smidge early so I could feel rested going into induction later this week), and am already feeling FOMO bc our kids are simply the best.

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

Just a reminder that parental leave in the US is a joke. I get 8 weeks paid which isn’t terrible (but still isn’t long enough since the church I work at’s daycare doesn’t take kids til 3 months old), and just found out today that my husband gets 0 paid leave unless he uses PTO/sick leave. 🫠

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a thing every single pregnant person should do because, holy heck, in 3 weeks, it has completely changed the level of pain I've been in. Also very excited for my next appointment, where I'll also get a prenatal massage. God bless PTs.

"would you please put that in writing" is how you pull off insubordination without actually being insubordinate. Very useful when you are getting sketchy (whatever 'sketchy' might mean) instructions from someone who might not want to take responsibility for it later.

At a youth group retreat, and the kids are alright. One student named that the evidence of God at work in the world is here in this space/with these people. Another named they didn’t have to wonder if the people around them cared bc they just knew.

A note for pastors and churchgoers who have struggled to understand why it’s important to be crystal clear about LGBTQ+ inclusion, rather than just gesturing broadly and saying “all are welcome” - what we saw today is exactly why. (1/4)

to people who wake up before 7 AM regularly... how do you do it? I roll out of bed at 7:30 (because my husband gets my son ready for school), throw on whatever clothes are clean, don't put on any makeup and just brush my hair, and leave my house at 8 (ish) to get myself to work by 8:30 ish.
