Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of our veterans in the Bronx and beyond.

To all who have served and to the families who stand beside them, thank you.

I am a definite NO on this so-called "deal."

Visited the Riverdale Y and RAIN Senior Centers to hear how the shutdown is affecting older adults. Directors report a sharp rise in lunch attendance, because for many, it’s their biggest meal of the day. Our elders deserve dignity. This shutdown must end.

This week, @repglatimer.bsky.social and I led a coalition of Bronx elected officials in urging Secretary Rubio and the U.S. Department of State to deliver immediate emergency aid to Jamaica following the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa.

BREAKING: A federal court just ordered Trump's administration to restore SNAP benefits during the shutdown. This is a critical step forward for my over 272K constituents in the Bronx who depend on food assistance to feed their families, but we must remain vigilant.

The Trump administration is willing to let 42 million Americans go hungry rather than do their job. We're demanding Secretary Rollins use available SNAP funding for November benefits. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy.

In 2 days, Donald Trump will cut off SNAP benefits for more than 3 million New Yorkers. Not because the USDA doesn't have the money, but because he thinks starving people helps him politically.

@reprileyny.bsky.social and I led a letter demanding that Trump reverse course and fund SNAP now.

The Penn Station Access project is a critical transportation project for the entire New York region.

Amtrak must take decisive action to mitigate these delays and ensure that the project can accelerate its work and make up for lost time.

Joel Camas should be in class at Gotham Collaborative High School, not in ICE detention.

He’s a Bronx teenager, not a public safety threat. Our courts said he belongs here. Treating him like a criminal is cruel and indefensible.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Jamaica and their families here in the Bronx as the island weathers Hurricane Melissa. My office will be monitoring the storm closely and be available to our constituents requiring assistance or resource information.

Donald Trump and Republicans are holding millions of families’ ability to feed themselves hostage to score cheap political points.

Proud to join 200+ House Dems in urging USDA to use emergency funds now.

Use the money. Stop the cruelty.

When Trump's federal agents are storming New York City streets wearing masks and detaining U.S. citizens, something has gone terribly wrong. Yesterday’s Canal Street raid looked more like a pseudo-authoritarian intimidation campaign than productive law enforcement.

Nearly 273,000 NY-15 residents rely on SNAP to put food on the table -- the most of any district across the state.

No one’s ability to feed their family should depend on politics. Republicans need to respect working families and leave SNAP alone.

Housing is only 1% of the federal budget, yet Donald Trump wants to cut it in half and impose time limits that would displace millions. We have an arsonist pretending to be a firefighter in the White House.

The Bronx is home to the largest number of WIC recipients in New York State. A government shutdown isn’t abstract here, it means mothers can’t buy formula or diapers for their babies. We cannot allow the most vulnerable families to pay the price for Washington’s dysfunction.

My heart is with those injured in the devastating Fordham Heights apartment fire and their families. Grateful to the FDNY for their heroic response and to the Red Cross for assisting those displaced as the cause remains under investigation.

Public housing is a federal obligation. Decades of disinvestment have left families poisoned by lead, breathing mold, freezing in winter, and trapped in broken elevators. The federal government has been the worst slumlord in America.

Earlier today, I held a press conference with Public Health Solutions — the largest WIC provider in NY — to sound the alarm on the looming lapse in WIC funding amid the government shutdown.

WIC serves 40% of America’s infants and stands as one of our nation’s most essential anti-hunger programs.

I’m introducing the TRUMP Act — The Restriction Ugly Money Portraits Act — to ensure no president can put their own face on U.S. currency. In America, money should honor history, not ego.

We cannot separate the collapse of a public housing building in the Bronx from the collapse of federal funding for public housing.

The federal government has long been an absentee landlord for the residents of public housing.
