Visited the Riverdale Y and RAIN Senior Centers to hear how the shutdown is affecting older adults. Directors report a sharp rise in lunch attendance, because for many, it’s their biggest meal of the day. Our elders deserve dignity. This shutdown must end.

BREAKING: A federal court just ordered Trump's administration to restore SNAP benefits during the shutdown. This is a critical step forward for my over 272K constituents in the Bronx who depend on food assistance to feed their families, but we must remain vigilant.

The Trump administration is willing to let 42 million Americans go hungry rather than do their job. We're demanding Secretary Rollins use available SNAP funding for November benefits. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy.

The Bronx is home to the largest number of WIC recipients in New York State. A government shutdown isn’t abstract here, it means mothers can’t buy formula or diapers for their babies. We cannot allow the most vulnerable families to pay the price for Washington’s dysfunction.

My heart is with those injured in the devastating Fordham Heights apartment fire and their families. Grateful to the FDNY for their heroic response and to the Red Cross for assisting those displaced as the cause remains under investigation.
