Last week, I warned Education Secretary Linda McMahon that the Department’s student loan proposal could shut nursing and other licensed professions out of full federal aid.

I categorically oppose any and all attempts at regime change, including in Venezuela. The US must stop entangling itself in endless wars that endanger American lives, deepen American debt, and do nothing to serve American interests.

The Bronx has some of the highest rates of advanced lung cancer. I partnered with Weill Cornell to bring a mobile lung cancer screening unit to NY-15, and I’m introducing legislation to strengthen insurance coverage for annual screenings. Early detection saves lives.

I am deeply grateful for the trail Nydia Velázquez has blazed. From championing Puerto Rico to fighting for public housing, she has been a powerful voice for the most vulnerable among us. She leaves Congress not only as an elected official but as an icon.

Visited the Riverdale Y and RAIN Senior Centers to hear how the shutdown is affecting older adults. Directors report a sharp rise in lunch attendance, because for many, it’s their biggest meal of the day. Our elders deserve dignity. This shutdown must end.

The Trump administration is willing to let 42 million Americans go hungry rather than do their job. We're demanding Secretary Rollins use available SNAP funding for November benefits. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy.
