I am a definite NO on this so-called "deal."

Visited the Riverdale Y and RAIN Senior Centers to hear how the shutdown is affecting older adults. Directors report a sharp rise in lunch attendance, because for many, it’s their biggest meal of the day. Our elders deserve dignity. This shutdown must end.

This week, @repglatimer.bsky.social and I led a coalition of Bronx elected officials in urging Secretary Rubio and the U.S. Department of State to deliver immediate emergency aid to Jamaica following the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa.

The Trump administration is willing to let 42 million Americans go hungry rather than do their job. We're demanding Secretary Rollins use available SNAP funding for November benefits. Taking food from seniors and kids isn't a budget strategy.

Housing is only 1% of the federal budget, yet Donald Trump wants to cut it in half and impose time limits that would displace millions. We have an arsonist pretending to be a firefighter in the White House.

Tish James is a fighter -- and she's going to fight these dubious charges to the bitter end.

The Bronx is home to the largest number of WIC recipients in New York State. A government shutdown isn’t abstract here, it means mothers can’t buy formula or diapers for their babies. We cannot allow the most vulnerable families to pay the price for Washington’s dysfunction.

Public housing is a federal obligation. Decades of disinvestment have left families poisoned by lead, breathing mold, freezing in winter, and trapped in broken elevators. The federal government has been the worst slumlord in America.

Earlier today, I held a press conference with Public Health Solutions — the largest WIC provider in NY — to sound the alarm on the looming lapse in WIC funding amid the government shutdown.

WIC serves 40% of America’s infants and stands as one of our nation’s most essential anti-hunger programs.

I’m introducing the TRUMP Act — The Restriction Ugly Money Portraits Act — to ensure no president can put their own face on U.S. currency. In America, money should honor history, not ego.

We refuse to be extorted.

Democrats are fighting for the healthcare of the American people.

Republicans are on vacation and content to let the government shut down.

A gas explosion led to a partial building collapse at Mitchel Houses this morning.

HUD needs to do everything it can to assist NYC in restoring the building and relocating these families who have been displaced to permanent housing. This is an emergency situation.

Yesterday, I convened a community roundtable in the Northeast Bronx to address the epidemic of gun violence facing our borough, city, and nation.

🚨 Home health funding is under attack. This care keeps seniors, people with disabilities, and vulnerable communities safe at home.

That’s why I united the overwhelming majority of the bipartisan NY delegation to oppose the administration’s plan to slash it.

Congratulations to Perrigo Teamsters on winning a fair contract.

You stood strong, fought for respect on the job, and secured real raises and retirement protections. That’s what collective power is all about. Proud to stand with you.

As a product of public housing, the affordability crisis is not abstract to me. Millions depend on affordable housing programs to survive. We must protect and expand them.

The Bronx is home to one of the largest and most dynamic Latino communities in America. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the families and neighbors whose hard work, culture, and contributions strengthen our borough and our nation.

On this day, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who carry unimaginable loss, and the resilience of New York and our nation. We will never forget.

Trigger leads are predatory and invasive. Today, we ended them. The bipartisan Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act puts homebuyers back in control of their personal information.

The Bronx lost a beautiful young soul, River Wilson, to a broken daycare system.

I’m introducing River’s Law, which would:

🚫 Eliminate pools from residential daycares
🔔 Install safety alarms to protect children

We must act to ensure a tragedy like this never happens again.

Heartbroken by the tragic shooting at Haffen Park. We mourn Jaceil Banks and hold 17-year-old Anthonaya Campbell in our prayers. No child should face this violence.

As a son of the Bronx, I stand with families & neighbors in mourning, and continue the fight for a safer Bronx.

Is it fair to subsidize luxury aircraft for billionaires at the cost of savagely defunding healthcare, food, and energy -- the essentials for working families?

Spoiler alert: it’s been a disaster.
