My section of Perceptron opens with a poem written by Frank Rosenblatt. It's one of the few non-technical writings he left after his early and tragic death. It's titled "Courage" and we have it because it was read at his memorial and by virtue of family connections, into the Congressional Record.

"Seen in this light, GPT-5’s performance of a grieving Japanese woman starts to look queasily like Madame Butterfly meets Blade Runner."
‘The lyric poem, as Allen Grossman once put it, “is the genre of the ‘other mind’”. To showcase your large language model navigating that genre is to broach the kind of question more often consigned to sci-fi.’

The beginning of my obsession with garnets.
When I held them to the light
Their wine just changed.
I bought string after string, but the closest
I got was a hundred-year-old necklace
From the Netherlands.
