This excerpt from Adam Hughes' "Pluck" touched my heart. Were we ever taught how to hold what we love? In Hughes' poem, he uses metaphors of skipping rocks and holding kittens to remind us that sometimes a tight grip leads to failure, or violence. -Boa Editions Fall 2025 Intern
