some of my favorite edibles, candy cap mushrooms are used more as a spice than a central ingredient, and I use them in my baking quite often :> they give this beautiful mapley earthy undertone to a baked good that you just can't get anywhere else.

Someone asked what "non-transactional networking" is and this is my answer. It has worked for me in building long-term relationships, along with regular mentoring and volunteering. And when I do make a request, other people want to help me (more often than not) because by then I'm someone they know.
1) You meet people
2) You figure out what you have in common (especially if they're not directly in your field) and decide to stay in touch
3) You find out something that can help them, is in their interests and/or makes them laugh and send it
4) You don't expect something immediately in return

I handled a jumping spider today! He was very sweet and just kind of chilled out on my hand and didn't want off for a little while. I gave him a little water in case he was thirsty too.
