Divide my time between fretting about the near-term future of the world & being an avid baseball fan🇨🇦🇩🇰🇵🇦🇲🇽🇺🇦
Really not that different than today’s stock market. Companies charge consumers outrageous prices & make outrageous profits, making their CEO & high level execs millions. They then return a small portion to shareholders via dividends. And yeah, this is a scam too.
Tariffs are taxes. When Trump levies new taxes on Americans without any approval by Congress and then talks about giving some of it back, that's not a "reward" – it's a scam.
Tom Emmer on tariff checks to Americans: "You gotta love this president. He looks at this like a business, and when the business is doing well, the shareholders, which are the American people, should be rewarded."

I can remember our high school wrestlers doing this in the 70s - we basketball players would sit with them at lunch & slowly eat double portions to tease them.
From @theathletic.com: "Cutting" is the controversial way boxers lose weight to make themselves eligible to fight. They use saunas, sweatsuits, diuretics, steam rooms and hot water immersions to accomplish this, and it can be dangerous for their health. nyti.ms/4pajPUc

Watching the World Series on Fox exposes you to strange promotions for the Murdoch empire. Fox Nation having a show called “Scammed-Getting Even” seems ironic since Fox News’ business model is scamming naive viewers. Maybe they’ll have an episode for rural Americans losing health insurance subsidies

When will we realize he doesn’t care? He used voters to get power-they’re useless to him now. He used Congress to authorize his secret police force-it’s now been shut down. He got the Supreme Court to grant him immunity from the law-he’ll now ignore it if he needs to. Welcome to the U.S. of Trump.
Enten: "Trump is doing absolutely awful in the minds of the American people. We're talking about new lows. CNBC, -13 net approval on the economy. It's -19 among Quinnipiac ... He's not just beating himself with record lows -- this is the lowest for any president ever."

Every student at Penn St should be refunded their tuition for this semester. Of course we know academics come in a distant second to football.
Breaking News from @theathletic.com: Penn State has fired head football coach James Franklin after a 3-3 start to a season that began with championship aspirations.

I can't quite believe that not one Democratic senator answered Pam Bondi by saying, "Why can't I question your integrity? You were investigating Trump University for fraud, you get a $25K donation and suddenly you drop it. You're claiming integrity?"

We need to put two & two together & recognize this behavior has been exacerbated by the behavior of Trump. Too many US citizens believe if we have a President who behaves boorishly it gives them Carte Blanche to do the same. We should be embarrassed not only by this behavior, but also by Trump.
From @theathletic.com: Golf icon Tom Watson apologized on behalf of his fellow Americans for insulting chants and verbal attacks from fans at the Ryder Cup over the weekend, saying he was embarrassed by the behavior.

This might initially sound like a stretch but the behavior of people at this event is symbolic of the USA in the Trump era. When you have a boorish President who acts like a spoiled brat, many of his supporters will believe they can be rude & obnoxious in public too.
From @theathletic.com: Rory McIlroy said the abuse from fans at the Ryder Cup “got to me a few times” as American fans shouted obscenities and personal insults at him and his family during the tournament. Someone also threw a beer at his wife.

Let me offer a different take on this, while acknowledging it is bad news for individuals who will lose jobs or revenue because of the move. But this lessens Colorado’s ties to the federal government & increases the incentive for the state to take bold action to oppose the Trump regime.
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday his intention to move U.S. Space Command headquarters out of Colorado to Alabama. Colorado's attorney general warned he'll sue over such an "unlawful decision."

Hey AARP - can we get a forceful comment about this?
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

This, more than anything else, is responsible for the lurch into authoritarian rule the US is experiencing today. Roger Ailes set out to create a propaganda network to rival Pravda & he may not have lived to see it, but he succeeded.
NEW: Fox News was the most common outlet that Americans named as their main source for political news.

More Republicans trust Fox News than any other news source. More Democrats distrust Fox News than any other source.

A reminder this is not limited to weather. The Trump regime sees profits to be made & people to be exploited in many areas where govt services have benefited the people of the United States.
The downsizing of the National Weather Service and the NOAA appears to be part of an effort to privatize the work of such agencies.

In several instances, the companies poised to step into the void have deep ties to people tapped by Trump to run weather-related agencies. apnews.com/article/trum...
