"I was with a 72-year-old woman who’d asked the police how we should get out of there, when suddenly the police charged with the horses and began pepper-spraying people"

So many stories I've heard are like this. People just trying to get out, not agitate, just getting attacked by police.

I'm also still pretty ignorant about the whole Kurdish/Syria situation, but luckily there's a briefing with @davidshoebridge.bsky.social on Thursday for anyone who wants to learn more. Hopefully can learn some way to help apart from solidarity (but maybe even just more of that would be good..)

Obviously still so much going on locally and across the world, and the Kurdish people are still being murdered and displaced without a lot of attention from the rest of the world.
Aussie Kurds have another rally this weekend, though sadly I have another commitment already and can't attend ☹️

Poster seen in Sydney denouncing NSW Premier Chris Minns who ordered a brutal police attack on Palestine protesters this week, justified under the totalitarian mantra of "Social Cohesion".

Going car-free is the best thing most people can do for climate. To reduce car dependency, cities should promote car-free living, supporting compact cities through policy, and investing in public transportation, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and shared mobility options.

Research points the way to a more climate-friendly, diverse, and desirable transportation system.

Well, I spent less than 10 minutes on a ferry today, and a random lady who was interested in my bike has now been recruited to attend this BBQ 😂
Maybe I should just ride the ferry around all day and try to interest more people in coming along.
(Also, if you're around - please do come!)

DGTO is keeping Australia's lights on for medium to large businesses.

With it entering review following the revive policy concluding, it's important the local industry really makes it loud and clear how massive an accelerant it is for our country's industry.

In what fucking world are we living in that any of this police violence can be considered reasonable? Shocker of a headline from the ABC, normalising police brutality.

I'm a bit unclear from the description... Who was throwing the punches, spraying mace, and arresting people?

Was it the protestors? Gosh, I hope it was the protestors
February 10, 2026 at 8:51 AM
Damn, this headline makes it sound like protestors were also equipped with capsicum spray.
Media going to great lengths to avoid blaming cops for the violence
📢 There were violent clashes between protesters and police in Sydney's CBD as punches were thrown, capsicum spray used, and 27 people arrested.

I think this is not very clear to people, but the police blocked all the exits and protestors could not get out, even the ones who were not intending to march.
People just wanted to leave but were trapped by police, then charged at by cops, pepper sprayed and assaulted.
Crikey was on the ground at the Sydney protest against Israeli President Isaac Herzog. We captured the confusion about how and where protesters should leave the rally, beginning with a heated discussion between NSW Police and NSW Greens MPs.
