ned is exactly right. the challenge is reconnecting the democratic party to a mass constituency and building real affinity between voters and the party. it would be more worthwhole to put $10 million into piloting democratic clubs and associated newspapers bsky.app/profile/resn...
This is the whole thing right here. All these tired fights about whether Dems should moderate are ways of dancing around the real problem, which is the that political parties no longer have any mass constituency.
In many countries, (esp. white, male) workers increasingly vote for radical right parties. Still, a sole focus on right-wing ideology only captures a narrow part of working class consciousness. Most workers, including many right-wing voters, are politically demobilized and distant from all politics.

People are often surprised to learn that Lee was an officer who never made it past colonel. The purported promotion to general was awarded by a treasonous cabal calling itself the "confederate states of america" which was put down by force by the Union army, which also had superior generals.
The Pentagon is restoring a portrait of Gen. Robert E. Lee, which includes a slave guiding the Confederate general’s horse in the background, to the West Point library three years after a congressionally mandated commission ordered it removed, officials said.

It would be genuinely challenge to draw up articles of impeachment for Trump. There are thousands of individual acts which are abuses of power and almost as many breaking statute law. you wouldn't know where to start.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

In Tommy Tuberville's home state of Alabama, 23% of all personal income comes from transfer payments from the federal government.

Alabama is the tenth most dependent on federal funding, getting $1.80 in spending back for every $1 its citizens pay in taxes.

This is a moment where it is historically, epically important to see the forest through the trees.

Talking about what sweatshirt a guy was wearing or even the plight of his children misses the point.

The president is disappearing people to a foreign detention camp with no normal legal process.

Stop using “First Amendment” as a metonym for “anything, official or unofficial, that may make me think twice before speaking.”

Social limits on speech are REALLY REALLY DIFFERENT than, say, being harassed at the border by a CBP agent who doesn’t like your political posts.
