The gov't doesn't have the exclusive power to (mis)interpret the law, the people can give it meaning too under the principle of popular sovereignty. The law doesn't treat protests ag immigration raids as a "rebellion" & I explain why (and provide signs!). youtu.be/bIEhD2hw2oM

It's small comfort or help to have predicted all this so accurately, but here we were naming "autocratic capture" several years ago and now the WH is assigning companies "loyalty ratings." (that story in the reply) protectdemocracy.org/work/desanti...
What is autocratic capture? DeSantis's war on Disney, explained
DeSantis’s attacks on Disney in Florida use a process called autocratic capture and mimic democratic erosion around the world.

Maria Farmer is a strong inspiring survivor of Maxwell and Epstein’s abuses. She’s right when she says pedophilia is not a partisan issue but rather a societal problem. We need to give a voice to the victims who want to testify and trust them. We should not rely on an abuser to know what happened.

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.

Watch and share his message.

Our capital gains tax system seems complex, but it boils down to this: The more profitable an investment proves to be, the lower the effective tax on the gains that investment generates.

"You could not design a more regressive tax system," writes @azboblord.bsky.social in @inequality.org:
America's Most Regressive Tax Levy: Our Tax on Capital Gains - Inequality.org
Our capital gains effective tax rate shrinks as the gains grow in size and duration, inviting the tax dodge that’s driving America’s wealth concentration.

International migrants are the largest source of international aid. This is an often underappreciated benefit of migration for global poverty reduction.
Migrants send or bring back over three times the amount of money provided by global foreign aid.

Cutting transaction fees could make this support even more effective in reducing poverty.
