This is what I’m so worried about
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Not "easily" achievable by federal legislation. I'm all for it, but this goes back to the BNA and the way responsibilities and powers were delegated to the provinces. We've been trying to do this for over 80 years.
He said they're going to table legislation by Canada Day. It's a pretty low bar you're setting to claim that's not achievable. As is standard with all legislation, the mechanics will be teased out as part of the development of subsequent regulations, once the legislation is enacted.

If this isn't worth using a Senate filibuster, what is? 3,300,000 deaths this year because of USAID cuts. Don't care about foreign aid? These diseases will kill Americans too. If the moral argument isn't persuasive, how about the self-interested one?

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True. (Gift Article)
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

I keep banging this drum but they are *ending* research in the United States. And I have yet to see electeds make much noise about this. This is the primary source of our international advantage and they are destroying it unimpeded
The Trump administration has terminated $800 million in grants to Johns Hopkins University, spurring the nation’s top spender on research and development to plan layoffs and cancel health projects

Local and international health research efforts are already winding down as the university braces for even more potential cuts.

If they were actively trying to start another pandemic, I'm not sure what they'd be doing differently.
New: Trump officials have paused all external communications at health agencies like CDC, FDA, NIH.

No health alerts and the famed MMWRs; no updates to key websites or social media posts.

And no indication how long the pause will last.

Trump officials pause health agencies’ communications, citing review
The agencies are charged with making decisions that touch the lives of every American and are the source of crucial information to health-care providers.
