I used to create regular blogs on ITSM and security, but I've slowed right down, and only write new blogs when I have something new to say. Here's a link to all my blogs so you can browse them...

When the Tech Bros finally build an AGI and they ask it for the Answers, it's gonna say:

"Y'all should instigate a UBI, and cycle lanes, and stop burning fossil fuels."

And... they're gonna turn it back off again.

"This is the tragedy of safety engineering. When it is successful, nothing happens. People see the expense and the inconvenience but not the monster which never surfaced."

The Loch Ness Monster and Plant Safety

Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.

Quick reminder that if you see a headline from a source you’ve never heard of that isn’t being reported by anyone else, you really should do some due diligence before spreading it around as fact. There’s enough misinformation floating around already; no need to add more.

Here’s something easy you can do today. Block USA Today on Blue Sky.

If you store information about people's sex, place of birth, nationality, parents nationality, gender, political affiliation, religion, sexuality, health care history OR any other personal information then please think very hard about whether you REALLY need it. Delete whatever you can.

On Sunday 19th Jan, I uninstalled Facebook and Twitter (X) from all my devices. I will probably reinstall Facebook in a while, but I don't miss Twitter and will probably not bother to put it back.

Sick of people calling everything in crypto a Ponzi scheme.
Some crypto projects are pump and dump schemes, while others are pyramid schemes.
Others are just standard issue fraud. Others are just middlemen skimming off the top.
Stop glossing over the diversity in the industry.

💥London’s cycling boom continues💥

📈New data shows bike journeys in the capital are up 26% since 2019 to 1.33m every day 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🥳💚💚

We’ll keep work with boroughs to make more streets safer and enable even more Londoners to get around on 2 (or 3) wheels 🚲🙂🚲
