Just woke up from an amazing but bittersweet dream that me and Raekwon had to console GZA because he was feeling guilty that his five percenter beliefs and cursing in songs caused his mom to die. Dream-me said, “GZA, guilt is just your grief looking for a place to go.” Good job, Dream-me.

That was a disappointing thing about the Captain Marvel movie, the comic book version is likeable in part bc she’s a recovering alcoholic who was (in-universe) famously insecure, but nevertheless still traveled the universe doing cool shit and punching aliens
I kinda hope that new Supergirl movie breaks this incredibly annoying spell that the only way to write a female main character is if they’re some bland girlboss, because there is a clear appetite for girl dirtbags and girlfailures

Chicago DSA members were out 6AM in 6 degrees this morning to support Starbucks workers at the Armitage/Hoyne store who walked out this morning and are now ON STRIKE! Workers will be picketing until noon today and tentatively 6AM-1PM tomorrow and Saturday if you’re able to stop by and join them.

A union contract is the only way we can stop these systemic problems that have been making Starbucks worse year-after-year. It would only cost the company less than a day's worth of sales to put fair pay, fair scheduling, and strong protections in writing through a contract.

Ironic given I’m not in either and I think my 1M1V articles last summer probably got my face put up on some dartboards. Also since “NGO-style politics” is also associated with the “right.” Speaks to the pervasiveness of the politics, imo!

It’s true, the article was basically finished, argument-wise, 3+ months before that fight blew up, the earliest draft was from 18 months earlier. The draft sent to the editors was the 8th (!) draft. It took a month+ from the pitch for the editors to run it, which made the timing unfortunate
I don’t think Ramsin was drawing from this specifically but at the time there was a faction in CDSA that was against the chapter endorsing in local school board races because members didn’t authentically represent our neighborhoods or whatever. Meanwhile you had parent candidates asking for it lol
