I'm currently in 19th century Italy. I learned that Italians were the pioneers of psychiatry. Starting in the 17th century the mentally ill were often chained and locked up. Italian doctors were the first to unchain them, and emphasised the importance of treating the mentally ill as human beings.
Sick. Apparently they called reformist socialists (sluggish schizophrenics).

Don't forget that hundreds have so far also been killed. There were videos of protestors dying after being shot as others desperately tried to save their lives. And doctors at a Teheran clinic leaked that more people have so far been killed than during the Israeli-American bombing campaign.

This regime is over, even if the protests somehow end. They are basically a small occupation force at this point. They are where Assad was in 2014. And Assad was only able to stay in power by inviting foreign armies to slaughter the Syrian people and keep him in power.

There will not be any defections from the IRGC. It's a fanatical organisation of people fully committed to the Ayatollah and the continuation of the regime. People crazy enough to burn the country down just so they can rule the ashes.

There might be some in the army who would consider defecting. But no one in the IRGC.

Trump is far too impulsive to not do air strikes. He also believes that his previous military engagements were all a success. So I think it is very likely that he will order new strikes on high ranking regime officials and IRGC bases.

I am extremely wary of any involvement by Qatar or the UAE in anything that may happen next in Iran.

The Qataris are probably angry right now. They had normalised relations with Iran, and wanted to use that relationship to counterbalance Saudi influence. Now they have to crawl back to the Saudis and beg them to not be mad.

And to hell with the UAE. If there is any UAE involvement in Iran it will probably be through the arming and financing of some god awful genocidal death squad that bulldozes thousands into mass graves. Just like everywhere else those Emirate bastards get involved in.

If the Israelis think a post-mullah Iran will unconditionally support them, I think they are very mistaken. At least all the Iranians I know want there to be a two-state solution with a Palestinian state. My closest Iranian friend despises all religious fanatics, including the West Bank settlers.

Let's also not forget the torture prison. It is very obvious by now that the mullah regime was leagues worse than the Shah, but the Shah did have blood on his hands.

This one is one of the most deranged things I have ever read. It's like some teenager who read Samuel Huntington for the first time, or the mad ramblings of some twitter culture warrior.

But it's writen by the U.S state department.

The MEK are awful. They started as a communist group that helped bring Ayatollah Khomeini to power. Then Khomeini stabbed them in the back and had them mass murdered. The survivors fled to Iraq, where they supported Saddam Hussain's brutal invasion of Iran. Now they are this weird marxist-shia cult.

Unlike the gulf states, Iran actually has a manufacturing sector, and a large population of educated professionals. In a new Iran, the main interest for Europe will be in Iranian labour.

When American right-wingers talk about European identity, they're using a fancy word for "white," i.e. a somewhat arbitrary amalgamation of ethnic groups who think they're better than everyone else. It seems they finally noticed their map doesn't fit the territory so they're looking for a bulldozer.

The U.S. is urging Americans to leave Venezuela as armed militias set up roadblocks and search vehicles for ties to the United States. Sounds like the regime is still in control. This is what happens when you invade and make assumptions without any plan beyond the headline.

January 11 and the protests in Iran are not slowing down. In Karaj, people are out chanting monarchist slogans. In Tehran’s Punak and Ketar districts, the crowds are massive, some say tens of thousands. Footage also shows IRGC thugs shooting at unarmed protestors.

There are definitely a few people in Iran who should be scared of reprisal should the regime be overthrown. Especially those who worked in the government of Mahmoud Achemedinijad, and of course the man himself. That presidency was exceptionally cruel and sadistic in its treatment of opponents.

A core part of modern far-left political beliefs in the West, really just is an unconditional and servile worship of the most horrific regimes in the world. Assad? Khamenei? Yeah, sure! As long as you claim to be "anti-West" you are good, apparently. Disgusting.

I have not seen any more to back up yesterday's claim by Trump media that shahed drones were used against protestors in Iran. It doesn't even make sense to do that. It would be very impractical to use Shaheds for this purpose.
