Thank you so much to the American-Scandinavian Foundation for awarding me the 2024 Nadia Christensen Prize! This prize is for an outstanding literary translation from a Nordic language into English, and I was awarded it for my translation of Karoline Brændjord's 'Jeg vil våkne til verden'.

Q: Who'd have predicted that an underfunded HE system where unis could overrecruit domestic students on fees fixed for decade - and was thus reliant on international visitors - would have been skewered by a combination xenophobic policies, inflation, and excessive building projects?

A: EVERYONE.
This is huge: a Russell Group uni making such severe cuts shows the extent of the crisis in HE funding.

How depressing. Was contacted about a possible book translation last year. Today they got back in touch to ask if, instead of translating the book, I'd be interested in editing the machine translation.
