It's odd that, for a group who invented original sin, a lot of christian theorists seem to prefer Foucault over Freud, because Foucault gets rid of the drives: a world not driven by conflict, a soul unburdened by the carnal.

Some days I wake up and think "my god Jello Biafra was right about everything, eh?"
Some days, it's WIlliam Burroughs
Some days, it's Arendt.
None of them are great.

Reader: they do not.
My reading, I believe most reading inevitably, will shift to audiobooks. I highly recommend it vs eye strain, the health effects of hours of sitting, & the twofer of enriching my life with a good book a week doing mindless chores.

Bookstores need to work audio downloads into their offerings.

AI is making us too stupid to react to the apocalypse it is bringing. But that’s a good thing.

Obviously it’s sad that Teen Vogue is firing it’s politics writers, but the fact that we were ever even thinking about looking to teen vogue for politics is itself a problem

Oh so you’ve “read” the #Talmud? Then tell me how much vinegar one needs to offset the volume of a mouse falling into a vat of it. You can’t? Then shut the fuck up 😂

The idea that "public scholarship" is a good alternative for graduates is absolutely insane.

"Oh, you didn't make it as a teacher? Have you considered being a rock star?"

The gamble of the so bros is that the social and relational can be purchased
I’m just, you know, a philosopher, but it seems obvious that intelligence is social and relational and the AI bros are deeply invested in it being private property that can be owned, so they will always always miss the mark.

Narrator: this was not in fact why they separated church and state.
People who force their religion on others will force their politics on others. It’s why we separate church from state.

#Music tip: Belgian tuba player Berlinde Deman has released an entire album of new music for the #serpent! The Renaissance wind instrument died out in the 19th century due to the soft and unforgiving timbre.

Listening to a story is good and fine, reading a story is good and fine, but listening to a book is not reading it. There are two different actions here, and , like magic, two different words.

I worry that people are confusing “you can make real friends online” with “it’s not a problem if all your friends are online”. Certain exceptions aside, you need to remember your monkey body: it needs to sit by a fire or tv with others, and pick bugs off them.
