You can disagree and argue as much as you like but the point of evaluating something scientifically is that not every statement should be given equal credence because evidence matters
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

You can't just flip a switch on unpaid and exhausted air traffic controllers. Things are still going to be messed up.

After the paychecks come in and folks get some sleep, they are still understaffed, and dealing with mandatory overtime and outdated equipment.

There are no quick fixes.

If you don’t test for Covid there won’t be any Covid theory, but for air travel.
If you just cancel flights, then they're actually not late! Brilliant stuff from Sean Duffy here

The public cannot demand absolute perfection from us, while we are unpaid, working mandatory OT, and criminally understaffed.

Something has to give. Sorry for the inconvenience, folks, but, we're real people here, and we matter just as much as your travel plans do. #airtrafficcontrol

I posted this as a reply elsewhere, but I'll say it again:

We air traffic controllers are not okay. The delay you call unnecessary may have been the delay that prevented one or more of us from working an unsafe level of traffic...

The fuckers got away with it.

The company. The people who made the decisions. All of them.

They got away with killing hundreds for the sake of a few cents per share of increased earnings. 🤬

"“If we have a continual small subset of controllers that don’t show up to work, and they’re the problem children ... if we have some on our staff that aren’t dedicated like we need, we’re going to let them go,” Duffy said on Fox Business News.”"

That was a dumb thing to say, Secretary Duffy.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is threatening to fire "problem children" air traffic controllers who fail to show up for work during the government shutdown.

The Trump administration has also threatened to lay off thousands of federal employees at other agencies if Congress doesn’t halt the government shutdown.

A few things to note:

- staffing triggers have been happening since well before the shutdown.

- starting salary is not $180k and I’ve never come close to $400k as a 20 year veteran.

- it is illegal to strike or perform any job action.

- safe, orderly, expeditious. Exclusively in that order.

Nice of him to make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that Trump & the Republican Majority will own a shutdown, period.
TAPPER: Just to be clear, there's not gonna be any negotiation at this meeting? This is just gonna be you, Thune, and Trump telling Jeffries and Schumer 'we're not giving you anything'?
