I just finished the #ADBook 💙📚 The Black Wolf by Louise Penny-another great Inspector Gamache Mystery. In the beginning the author says she wrote the book in summer of 2024 and submitted it in Sept 2024 and didn’t know what would happen early 2025.

What a day- we have lice and stomach flu going around so I had 2 kids tell me they had lice last week while itching their heads, one puker and a lock down(not a drill)with a kindy class. School Librarians will understand.

Watched the new Frankenstein on Netflix. I would def recommend. The use of colors stands out- red, gold, green,blue- and I’m sure they have meaning. I don’t know what 🤷‍♀️ but I can imagine college film students of the future writing papers about the colors and what they represent.

Any other #SchoolLibrarians have staff meetings in the library and clean like they are hosting holiday dinner? Just me?
I left Monday thinking I will clean up the mess tomorrow morning forgetting Vet Day off.
Now I’m headed in early to clean before the staff sees it.

Hubby has been having trouble with his rear camera. Yesterday got a scare when he put it in reverse and a HUGE spider appeared on the screen. Spider has built a nice little web back there.

The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.
BREAKING: Book banning extremist group “Moms For Liberty” LOST ALL 31 of their races.

Moms for Liberty is now 0-59 in contested school board races since 2023.

This is what happens when communities have had enough and say NO to book bans!

WTF IS THIS? Blocking the will of the people? The Ohio House will soon vote on a Republican-backed bill that would allow counties, cities and other local governments to block library levies from the ballot.
Bill would let Ohio taxing authorities keep library levies off ballots
Republicans say allowing local taxing authorities in Ohio to block library levies would increase transparency, but libraries say it will hurt them and voters.

Anybody who tells you that full moon thing is a myth has never worked in a school or an ER. Kids have been crazy and when I said something to a colleague about every class being riled up she said 🌕 #SchoolLibrarians #Skybrarians #Edusky #Teaching

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

Also proud because they analyzed book covers to determine which were “real” and which were AI generated. And discussed how books and book covers should have real authors and illustrators. #Kidlit #TLsky #SchoolLibrarians #skybrarians The kids are all right.
We are watching Scholastic Book Fair trailers this weekend and I am SO proud of my 4th- 6th grade students recognizing and questioning whether they are AI. #SchoolLibrarians #Skybrarians

I strongly recommend everyone do research sometimes 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘯.

Look something up on Wikipedia. Go to the little citation. Follow it. Read the article it's referencing. Follow links to the original interview. Read the paper written by the interviewee

It genuinely makes you appreciate journalism

I have read many of these books and now feel like I want to add those I haven’t read yet just so I can. I haven’t done a book palette but this one is lovely and also a pretty good sampling of my taste.
I never understand these trends, but honestly this a pretty good sampling of my bookish taste! I’ve read and enjoyed each and every one of the books in this palette. Would you be able to complete a full palette of your favorite reads? What would go on it first? #booksky

My mom and I read all the Tony Hillerman books and loved them. Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn. I wish she was still here to watch Dark Winds. The book is always better but they do a great job on this series.

Why are my students obsessed with axolotls? Is it just my school or are others finding the same interest? #SchoolLibrarians
