Good Morning! On this day, (Monday) November 10 in 1899 Kate Seredy was born. She was a Hungarian-born writer and illustrator. She won the Newbery Medal, the Newbery Honor twice, the Caldecott Honor, and Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. She wrote in English, *not* her first language. #Herstory

"The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats (published in 1962) changed children's books forever! This beloved Caldecott Medal-winning classic was a significant step towards diversity in children's literature. It introduced Peter, a Black child in a positive and relatable role.

Line E was originally established to connect the East Bay, starting at Claremont Hotel, to San Francisco as a Transbay line. AC Transit’s Line E would continue nearly mirroring this route, starting at Caldecott Ln down Claremont Ave and into SF.

Classic tale of that young boy Max whose imagination takes sail when he is sent to his room and the wild things appear. Needed this replacement to fill out my Caldecott collection.

NY’s Jefferson Market branch library seems like it popped out of the pages of a Caldecott winner, something irreducibly magic about it

My 3 y/o grandson told his mom, "My g'ma is really good at making books. She made this for me." The book I supposed ly wrote? LON PO PO by Ed Young.
Maybe mistaken identity isn't so bad.

En ce 22 octobre, je pense à Hubert Caldecott et Jean-Pierre Glou, deux rugbymen nantais fusillés le 22 octobre 1941. Ce ne sont pas les seuls rugbymen engagés précocement dans la Résistance.

A5: I have seen some shifts with the Newbery and Caldecott toward inclusion, but I have noticed that there are still stories that are centering animals (like "The Eyes and the Impossible") over stories about youth and their life experiences. I think Erin Entrada Kelly's 2025 win was HUGE! #TLSkyChat
Q5 for tonight’s #TLSkyChat!

💬 Although recent efforts have emphasized inclusion, over the years, some award lists have been criticized for lacking representation or accessibility. What shifts have you noticed (if any), and what do you still hope to see?

Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne are the actors, playing a pair of cricket-mad chums called Caldecott and Charters. First appeared in “The Lady Vanishes” but reprised the roles together a few times.

Throughout his career, Rackham demonstrated a real ability to mix real and fantastic, thus obtaining a very wide success. Beardsley, Caldecott, Cruikshank, Doyle or Dürer were his sources of inspiration as were Japanese prints.
