The point was to kill people, not to save money
Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

This week, I'm thankful for everyone working to hold him accountable for his disastrous education policies.

Why is Vivek Ramaswamy parrotting Yass’ talking points?

THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE SUBSIDIES & ACA EXCHANGES WORK ALREADY.

CONSUMERS ARE INFORMED BY COMPARING POLICIES ON THE ACA EXCHANGES, THEN THEY PURCHASE ONE AND THE GOVERNMENT PAYS SOME OR ALL OF THE COST OF THAT POLICY.

I'M TEARING THE LITTLE HAIR I HAVE ON MY HEAD OUT.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

This is an important point. The exchanges also act as an unbiased market where you can compare all ACA-compliant plans fairly.
Also — underreported is that the exchanges allow individuals to work for themselves and easily get health insurance Not everyone on the exchange is there for a subsidy Some of us are there just for insurance

Under @VivekGRamaswamy’s proposed Merit Pay system, educator salaries would be based on subjective evaluations rather than credentials and experience.

That means educators’ credentials and years of experience won’t count.

Another dipshit without any understanding of unions, teachers, public schools, standards, life, the universe, and everything.

I'm tired, but not enough to not fight back against it.
Vivek Ramaswamy is out to gut public education in Ohio by silencing educators' voices by attacking their unions, going to "school vouchers on steroids," & forcing unfair pay practices on educators.

Educators are fighting back.

Nothing to really say, except we all know Nancy Mace is a seriously sick individual who will do and say anything if it gets her attention and power.

You know, typical MAGA.
Nancy Mace is expected to pull her support for the petition to release the Epstein Files, the day before Adelita Grijalva is sworn in.

This Veteran's Day I give thanks to those that served to protect our nation and uphold democracy. I'm also saddened and extremely angry as so many freedoms are lost — but we should continue to care for those that served with education, healthcare, housing, mental health services, and deep gratitude.

What *evidence* is she basing this assessment on? The Republican party has refused any serious attempt (perhaps ANY attempt) to address healthcare costs FOR ALMOST TWO DECADES.

Profoundly disappointed in the caving Senate Dems, but they're banking on short memories for the electorate. Provided we still have elections in '28 and '30, they're hoping folks forget this betrayal by the time primaries come around.

Evidently, there’s a Republican in the NYC mayoral race? 🤨

The only thing all of us non-New Yorkers see is a full fascist regime endorsement for Cuomo.

It’s Election Day nationwide.
Do not let apathy or complacency silence your voice.
Every Dem vote counts towards saving our democracy.

VOTE! 🗳️

We need to triage the family food shortages now, and continue the necessary and frustrating work to eliminate the reasons for hunger — which is strictly a policy choice.
Hi, we ran out of baseball and the sun went down at like 12:45 and it's hard to know where to start with the grocery crisis. TIL you can search Amazon's registry section by state for food banks' wishlists. If you can, buy a neighbor some soup or tea: www.amazon.com/registries/s...

When I was campaigning I always tied the actual dollar savings to policies I advocated — and I was often met with the same anger towards these programs by Republicans, because it was never about the money, it was the fictional "robbery" they envisioned by "undeserving" people.
Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.
