Fi2W producer Leina Gabra takes us to Flatbush, Brooklyn in New York, where a group of community activists are uncovering the history that laid below a corner of their neighborhood.

Listen to the story:

The largest known colonial burial ground for people of African descent in the United States — both free and enslaved — is in New York City. That burial ground in Lower Manhattan is a national park and...

Some of my journalist income goes regularly to my local outlets @lataco.bsky.social, @lapublicpress.bsky.social, @pbs.org SoCal, and even my former employer @laist.com.

Think about supporting your local public and independent media too so it's not just the same few journalism dollars going around!

I have no words for the incandescent rage at the casual erasure of disabled folks, because this shit happens far too often. @sfdirewolf.bsky.social was fierce about living life & speaking truth in ways we can all learn from. Honour her memory by masking up & protecting public health.

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

Journalists who cover race, gender and inequality are often the first to go in layoffs, raising deeper questions about who gets to tell the news.
Teen Vogue changed how a generation saw politics and inclusion. That era could be over.

Anthropic is aggressively hitting me with ads on instagram for Claude and it’s all people being like “I use Claude to brainstorm” or asking Claude where they can find two colors together in a city. What a pile of crap, how does anybody still believe this is the future? It’s Search 2 and it sucks
