the big decision facing backyard right now
November 17, 2025 at 4:11 PM
An important point is the social component that has only grown over the past decade. There is a cohort of younger players who play to hangout with friends and are unlikely to play alone, even if it regards the same game.
More players in the UK (58%), US (65%), Germany (60%) and Japan (63%) still prefer Singleplayer games over Multiplayer games.

Younger people are more likley to choose MP games.

after 3 playtests for my Zine Month project, here's some things that keep popping up

- some control around neighborhoods/areas
- more flavor from factions
- some other way to do scoring
- ways to go "deeper" into lore of locations instead of creating new ones

ever have a game mechanic idea that terrifies you a bit?

I tried to just keep track of all the cool new rpgs I saw in a week to do a round up thread and it was just too much lol

Certainly did not take enough pictures but Crown playtests are going well! We had a massive 8 person group play out the faction mechanics and they all loved it.

Here's the mobile zine stall for Metatopia. 3 copies of Afterworld and Memoirs plus a copy of Prequel to show off (available for print soon)

Augustus is the type of man you love to hate and hate to love
In A Night Out in Baldur's Gate I was in charge of creating an interesting NPC you could find while going through the many activities the product has to offer

Augustus Bloyd is the perfect NPC to both give quests to players and to get them into a lot of trouble 💀

Celeste was so kind to jump on the project and help out with editing in the middle of a big move. This product would certainly would not as polished without her attention to detail. A fountain of patience to my inexperience including editors into the dev process.
I had the pleasure of working with amazing writers on A Night Out in Baldur's Gate.

You can't miss the chaotic scavenger hunt, local delicacies, a brand new bard subclass, nor the special, though criminal-y, NPCs.

Tightly packed and ready for Metatopia.

Will I board Spirit unscathed!?

I've been itching to do something with Koa all year and the Game Jam was a great excuse.

He made so many fun poisons and drugs we almost couldn't fit them all in!

He was energetic and proactive, always looking for ways to improve the product
suprisee!
I was a part of makin' The Annual Baldur's Gate Scavenger Hunt!

This is a super silly, chaotic fun evening oneshot adventure with plenty of drunken NPCs, all kinds of Baldruian cocktails, backstreet poisons, and ✨various contraband items✨

A Night Out in Baldur's Gate just released with contributions from 5 other amazing writers and editors

For less than a Starbucks you can:

Get in a bar fight, humour drunken nobles, drink fantasy cocktails, and do drugs, and more!
