I've kindly been included in a few starter packs, so just thought I'd properly introduce myself to new followers I haven't met in person.

If that's you and you're wondering why my face appears in your feed, hope that helps, and please do say hi! 👋

And now I'm very much convinced that the best way to talk about AI in research is to advocate for responsible use... Of course it has limits, like any tool, but it also has its usefulness!
The key is explaining the balance between the two sides... Like we do with any other tool
Day 1 of the AC modélisation annual meeting at @pasteur.fr 💻

First day is "early-career researchers day", with a round table on careers in academia in France, and now a discussion on the use of AI in scientific writing! Good to think about why we shouldn't list ChatGPT as an author on papers...

In this new PLOS Comp Bio paper, we show how this strategy impacts epidemic dynamics 📉

A great example to highlight the problem of publication metrics, as it shows that the line between "good" and "bad" science is blurry...
In AMR research, we all frequently refer to the IHME burden estimates, so this is worth keeping in mind 👇

Il y a 2 semaines, j'ai présenté le labo en 3min lors du séminaire de rentrée du Cnam. Pour la Fête de la Science, je me suis dit que ça serait utile d'avoir cette intro en vidéo, et voilà ce que ça a donné 👇

What does it really mean to be “infected”?

PCR? Symptoms? Antibodies? Being able to pass it on?

I’ve written a blog digging into why infection isn’t a simple on/off switch, and why the definition you choose matters for modelling, vaccines, & public health.

Why antibiotics are like fossil fuels
They helped create the modern world but are dangerously overused. How can we harness them sustainably?

The new Bad Vaxx game is a nice example of effective science communication via videogames, in this case to raise awareness about vaccine misinformation.
Give it a try in villain mode though, from a game-design perspective this is much more impactful than playing the hero !
