In new research with @qalbaugh.bsky.social , we compare 3 methods for identifying LGBTQ2S+ candidates in 🇨🇦 federal elections (2019–2021).
Identifying LGBTQ2S+ candidates: comparing three approaches
In this research note, we compare three approaches to identifying LGBTQ2S+ candidates: candidate surveys, published lists of LGBTQ2S+ candidates, and systematic searches of each candidate running. ...

In recent research with @qalbaugh.bsky.social, we use a survey experiment to explore how gender stereotypes shape voters' perceptions of transgender and nonbinary candidates' traits. The results are not the most encouraging, but you can read more here: www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/...

Ipsos has just released their PRIDE REPORT.

What the data tell in several aspects: Male members of GEN Z are in some regards more illiberal than the Baby Boomers. Additionally, we see a clear regress (!) in favouring LGBTQ* rights!

Numbers of openly #LGBTQ* on rise!

Yet every year at EPSA one senior faculty asks me something like “why do you still need an LGBTQ group?”
This kind of marginalization reproduces itself. With less visibility and prestige, new PhDs won‘t focus on these issues, faculty positons won‘t include this profile, teaching will ignore it.
Important piece by @jennpiscopo.bsky.social on gender research in political science’s ‘top’ 6 journals, 2017-2023. The findings for LGBTIQ research are particularly dire, coming in at only .55% (16 of 2,892 items); and less when considering full research articles.
