I’ve seen a million media stories about how sad Republican voters in CA are about losing their Republican representatives.

But I don’t think I’ve seen a single one talking about Demoratic voters in Texas, or North Carolina, or Missouri losing their representatives.

The Biden admin was also working to change Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR) to promote memory safety in government software.

Now the FAR is being rewritten directly by Musk's henchmen to favor Musk's own companies with lucrative contracts. It's going to be more scams, less safety.

Anecdotal story, but something that happened to me:
Teaching a third grade science module on fact vs fiction.
A student corrected a parent that night.
Next day, no more fact vs opinion science module.

That's what educators are up against.

Ignorant parents have too much say over what we teach.

A long read; well worth it for those—especially Gen X or older—alarmed at the collapse of the American middle class.

The writer looks at the metrics we use to measure poverty, identifies how the metrics have failed, and how that failure has destroyed middle-class America.

My best and most successful advice for those who want to give a teen a book:

Give them a book that someone gave to you, and tell them the story of why it was meaningful to you.

Inviting them to share in your experience means a lot to them. Trusting them with your story does, too.

If they've learned how to take books to the used book shop to trade in for credit, you've obviously done something right.

Kids who grow up wanting to trade books for more books are 💯 ahead of their peers.

But if you aren't sure what they like, we're standing by with gift cards and suggestions 📚❤️
