I liked it because the main character, Aaliyah, was believable and sympathetic. And the book tackles a potentially contentious subject with grace and compassion, but without ever becoming preachy. It’s very true that wearing the hijab is usually portrayed negatively in the British press, and this book will show you that it is not necessarily a symbol of repression at all. OK, now I have made it sound like not fun, but it is fun!
