Tim Kaine is on par with Fetterman in terms of caving to Republicans, he just doesn’t get as much attention because Virginia has become less swing-y than Pennsylvania and Kaine won’t be up again until 2030.

This is not what they actually say. This is what they used to say, in the long ago before times when Shaheen learned to do politics. There is no kumbaya median voter anymore. The question you get knocking doors is not "why can't you all just work together?" it's "why didn't / will you fight harder?
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

“Okay, so, hear me out… Okay, so, Republicans screw the Dems and never schedule the ACA vote, right? Or, like, they do, but then the vote fails… obviously.

“So then everyone’s premiums skyrocket, okay? So that just makes everyone ANGRIER, and then the Dems sweep.”

“WHY ARE YOU HITTING ME‽”
I’m already seeing people insist that even with this capitulation the Democrats will still sweep 2026 because Trump is that bad. It was precisely that attitude that gave us 2024.

The real winners tonight are all the consultants the DNC is about to hire to try and figure out why not even their own voters like them 🤔

If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately.

He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.

Literally resign tonight.

The thing is that while the government was able to eventually earn back the money it used to bailout the banks (and even made a profit), that was because everyone needs banks.

But there is NO evidence that OpenAI will be able to pay back a bailout.

So this taxpayer money will truly be torched.
Funny how fast the talk about OpenAI seeking a government bailout happened once even pro-AI commentators began calling out their circular funding ecosystem as being wildly unsustainable...

But let's be real: They were always going to ask for a bailout. That was their grift's goal from the start.
“OpenAI is getting ready to run hat in hand to the taxpayer for subsidies.” After losing more than $13 billion this year, OpenAI officials are angling for a bailout. From @ryanlcooper.com:

the moment any media replaces any human labor with AI it is dead to me. And anyone with any iota of appreciation for the hard work that goes into their games, books, music, illustrations, animations, etc etc etc should feel similarly
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Congress is run by 20 y/o’s because eventually young, bright-eyed staffers realise working 12 hour days for less than $60k/yr. in D.C. fucking sucks, so they bounce out by age 30 and their office snaps up one of the 100s of bright-eyed recent college graduates willing to take their place.
it’s not only a recipe for corruption, it’s a talent issue - we lose a ton of talented folks who would do fantastic work in public service to the private sector because of the salary delta, which most people don’t have family money to make up for

these are important jobs that should pay well
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
