🚨New on Phonautograph🚨

The follow-up to the first Four Way Hips album. This one's not recorded to a four-track, though.

Electronic with some Brazilian twists and big beats. I think it's a fun record.

If you like Cluster's Zuckerzeit this may be up your alley:

This is a cool multimedia piece about Expresso 2222 & it's influences from the Nordeste (northeastern Brazil)

Gilberto Gil composed the title track for the 1972 LP using strings, but took inspiration on the cadence of the typically Northeastern instrument.

Ok, been working on blowing over the Confirmation changes for about a week? This is where I am now and I think there's a pretty significant difference between last week's video and this one. I couldn't play at this tempo until today. Definite progress! It's moments like this that keep me going.

Officially at the "dreaming about bad reeds" level of saxophone playing.

We were talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up and I realized that though I had wanted to be an architect as a kid, after I started playing guitar I didn't want to be anything anymore. I just wanted to exist to play music. Still at it!

I could have been there playing with Quinton Barnes' Black Noise Ensemble but I couldn't get the time off work. Disappointed they didn't get a write-up here but the festival was stacked with great stuff. Sad to have missed it.

HUBERT LAWS: Today we celebrate Hubert Laws, undoubtedly one of the greats. Flute, though beautiful, is not typically an instrument you hear in jazz. But Hubert’s voice still came through so strongly. The instrument didn’t matter; it was about his ideas.
Happy Birthday, Hubert Laws!

An alphabetical thread rounding up some of the finer ambient, jazz, psychedelic, and otherwise dreamy releases of this past October. As always, I'm astounded by how much good stuff is steadily released, so this is just scratching the surface.
