That's a great idea, I should do that. It's so important to continue to stretch yourself. What a great way to spread the encouragement.

I gotta be careful 'cause I can get into the Paul Desmond zone reeeeeeal quick, lol. Having a lot of trouble getting a good sound on the high notes, still. Really trying to work on my voicing lately but I'm still not happy with it.

Basically a tomatoey split red lentil soup with whatever vegetables happen to be kicking around. We had a lot of carrots this time. The key is to add the tomatoes from the can separate from the liquid and cook them down until the caramelize then add the liquid.

Oh god, I remember the $25 dollar CD days. That's why I started buying vinyl, it was way cheaper!

I'm starting to get the impression that the thrift stores here are pretty good.

Thanks! I hope these stupid little videos encourage people to keep trying. It's so hard to convince students that if you do the work you'll see progress and that's what I'm hoping to illustrate here. It takes time but you just gotta do the work! And if you're a weirdo like me the work is enjoyable.

Thanks, Sean! Maybe I have an inflated idea of what high schoolers sound like. Maybe i'm at the "guy who went to music school but gave it up to become a doctor" level, lol.

Excuses for my poor tone/intonation: Working in a new reed, trying to play quietly, I continue to suck. Still, those are things I'm working on and I know they'll get better. For a week's progress, I'm pretty happy with this. By next week I should be ADVANCED high-school-alto-player level, lol.

After the past few years this is incredibly refreshing.

I passed on all that 90s stuff but I did grab these in addition to that killer 12".

I dreamed that I pulled a reed out of the box and it was basically just a chunk of cane.

This is a cool multimedia piece about Expresso 2222 & it's influences from the Nordeste (northeastern Brazil)

Gilberto Gil composed the title track for the 1972 LP using strings, but took inspiration on the cadence of the typically Northeastern instrument.
