Had a surprisingly nice drive through BC and part of AB yesterday… Drive up Coquihalla and on through Jasper, roads were clear and mostly dry. Only when we got closer to Hinton was there quite a lot of snow. Seemed like a reversal of typical weather patterns.

So… hi. Yes, I have been very quiet. I spent almost 2 weeks on the road and in Edmonton, and have been busy with family obligations as well as a series of unfortunate events (car broke down on the way to the ER being one of them… don’t worry, everyone survived, even the car!)

What can I say? This spotted owl was 7 weeks old, not nearly time to learn to read. It was so curious about me I thought it was going to land on my head but instead it landed on the sign and studied me so long it finally fell asleep.

This paper. Wow. The authors linked years of car crash data from Florida with income tax data. They found that having your parked car crashed into was associated with substantial reductions in earnings FIVE YEARS LATER. (Only for people with low earnings to start out).
