Seeker of consensus-based interdisciplinary discourse about sustainable society. Can we improve well-being, happiness, and prosperity while reducing irreverisble ecological damage and human poverty? Also: music, poetry, running, wine, dogs, and hiking.

New article: We have the knowledge to see that we are in a moment of crisis for human well-being on Earth and we also live in an age that makes communicating this crisis feasible, but the complexity of ecological, economic, and political discourses constrain us.

I spent many beautiful summers in trades work in rain and sun: erecting fences, mixing concrete, tarring roofs, laying patios, hanging sheetrock, painting. The soundtrack on most of those days was always Pierre Robert on #WMMR #pierrerobert. Rest in peace.

Hell yeah. Great response from DC, and exactly what every major publisher should be saying.

I don't truly know what I "think" until I have a chance to research and write about it.

I write to think, to share what I think, and to participate in those prickly dialectical tensions.

Looks like the youngens have scooped one of my favorite [formerly] lesser known B sides in Billy Joel's "Vienna." I always looked forward to the back side of The Stranger for that tune. I've just learned that it's trendy on TikTok. Next year they'll be coming for Jackson Browne's "Rosie."

Warm but beautiful summer morning here. WIshing peace for all humans in the world. We are all brothers and sisters living on a fragile planet with limited resources. We have all we need to share and live happy peaceful lives. Why waste our precious time shooting missels and drones at one another?

Brian Wilson single-handedly raised the bar on how to write and arrange a great pop song. He inspired and touched so many songwriters, including me. It pushed the Beatles towards Sergeant Pepper and in God Only Knows he created a masterpiece that remains unmatched to this day.
God speed, Brian.

I am pro taking kids swimming in creeks! Rather than ridicule RFK we should use this as a moment to ask why we tolerate persistent effluent pollution when there are ample solutions and technology to drastically reduce nitrate runoff and ammonia discharge in our waters. Clean creeks and take a dip!

For me, this gem is capturing some of what life in America feels like RN

"We’re too stoned to notice there’s no road left to be tucked
Down under the wheels that have long since abandoned us...It’s impossible now that wе’ll be anything but crushed.
I’ll let you down but I will not give you up."

Three more days. Still can't believe we booted the Prez who got us out of the pandemic, ended the endless wars, recovered the economy, held back Russia, brokered a cease fire in Gaza, brought back US manufacturing, lowered inflation from 9 to 3%, and funded revitalization of our infrastructure.
