How did Rahm Emmanuel ever win election in Chicago? That fucker now wants to be President, and part of me is like, good luck, lol. ...then I remember we live in the worst timeline, and I'm not so sure we won't have Emmanuel foisted on us as a Trump alternative.

I think Newsom's biggest liability is how fake he is. He is a male model for FFS. He's like a social media construct whose every action is polled ahead of time. Meanwhile, what's really needed is someone authentically committed to fixing the corporate-fascist vice-grip on our national politics.

Ultimately, we probably should take the Chinese deal, imo. Global warming is worth losing the US auto jobs. Alternatively, we could subsidize US made EVs to be price competitive with Chinese autos (w/o heavy tariffs), that might be the best of both worlds.

The next Dem President, if there is one (no joke btw), needs to consider what to do about Chinese cars. These new EVs are sweeping the world because they are essentially subsidized by the Chinese gov't and cost half of western EVs. They would sell which is goof for CO2, but horrific for US auto jobs

US automakers are so screwed with Canada's new deal with China. For the first 50k Chinese autos, there will be only a 5% tariff. Chinese cars are usually like 60% the cost of cars made in the west. We're about to see Chinese cars explode into North America.

I wonder if Trump getting Machado's Nobel Peace Prize will mean he no longer complains about not receiving one officially?Oddly it might. Depends if he's more or less sophisticated than my dogs, who have to steal one another's toys--sometimes I can placate them by providing a similar toy.

I was just thinking of how quaint and precious it was when Senators used to say that without the filibuster, there would be wild swings in the state of the law every time there was an election.
Now they're eliminating whole departments and annexing overseas territories without so much as a vote.

One thing we have to recon with as a nation is despite the law, what politicians say, what judges have ruled, and generational affirmations/revaltions—there has never been a moment in U.S. history where people left of center could practice politics or protest without being surveilled.
