I with the PSF.
The Python Software Foundation was recommended for a $1.5M grant from the National Science Foundation. The terms of the award said PSF could not work on DEI, whether or not the grant funding was used for it.

PSF therefore declined the funding.

Science suffers, but commitment to core values remains
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Some news about active set methods.
SODA notifications are in the inboxes, and this paper will be in the conference :)

This is my second paper using extended formulations to prove running time lower bounds. I am surprised that people have been sleeping on this angle, but happy to fill in the gap where needed
An unconditional lower bound for the active-set method in convex quadratic maximization
We prove that the active-set method needs an exponential number of iterations in the worst-case to maximize a convex quadratic function subject to linear constraints, regardless of the pivot rule used...

Nye afsløringer. Regeringen lader landbruget forurene dit drikkevand uden at gribe ind.

Og gæt hvem der betaler regningen!?

Rigtig gættet. Det gør du og landets vandforbrugets, som skal betale milliarder til rensning af vandet.

Skål!

Maybe Denmark should be inspired by Latvia.
Rheinmetall is building another 155mm factory - this time in Latvia. MoU signed today. Production facility including shell forging & filling line. Construction scheduled spring/2026. €275 million investment for a 5-figure production capacity. Where's ours 🇪🇪?

Re that last repost (from @davidallengreen.bsky.social) - I’ve been reflecting lately that the stuff we did in History at school on the weaknesses of the Weimar Constitution missed the real point. It had its flaws, but the real problem was a lack of will to defend democracy and the rule of law.

Ignoring the EV evolution is likely to be a bad idea.
To compete with China’s cheap electric cars, Ford is retooling the assembly line—the very thing Henry Ford used to get the world motoring a century ago, Patrick George reports. Even that might not be enough.

Relying on Energy import Russia was stupid. Relying on Energy import from Trumps US is close to be equally bad.
1. A characteristically brilliant explanation by @billmckibben.bsky.social of why Trump's attempt to force the EU to buy US fossil gas (please let's stop calling it "natural gas") will fail. Unfortunately, the UK is now locked into US gas dependence. 🧵 billmckibben.substack.com/p/how-the-gr...
