What a shame. Teamsters deserve better than this.
Teamsters President Sean O'Brien downplays Trump's reckless firings of federal workers: "We don't want to see anybody losing their jobs, but he thinks he's within his right."

The main tension of this platform is that it’s a forward thinking technology product with a tech-forward team, but it’s attracted a tech-conservative userbase with deep skepticism and outright hostility to tech in general
No one complains about Facebook or Insta verification but the second it comes up here all of a sudden it’s elitist favoritism.

It doesn’t have to be like twitter, where it was based on the vibes of twitter staff. If the system is open to everyone then it’s equitable and not an issue.

They need to make profile pics in tweets bigger so you can go to a profile straight from a quote tweet. As I type this I realize how bad of an idea this is. Yeah actually make it harder to visit a profile off a quote tweet

Yes that is the issue with labels here. You have to appeal to some guy playing out their HOA president fantasies on the internet if you find yourself mislabeled or even worse defamed.

To be fair though, mechanics/plumbers/every other specialized field etc make fun of their clients too. Atleast they’re humble enough to recognize that ignorance/laziness of others is where their bread is buttered

This reminds me of the screencap where Dropbox announced on HN and someone spat out a couple bash commands to recreate it
it's like we self sorted all the nerds into mastodon and now no one knows how to put on their pants without a major tech company telling them where their legs go.

One of my least favorite forms of social media interactions

Me: *repeats something I've long known in connection to something freshly relevant in hopes of informing others who don't know*

Other person: "Oh you're just figuring this out? 🙄 I've known this forever."

Almost block-worthy.

Rip Al-Kwarizmi you’d hate to see what they did with your name
It's been interesting to witness in real-time how the usage of "algorithm" in many places has shifted from a neutral "sequence of instructions" to a negative "controlled ordering and boosting of information".

Like y'all are literally labeling where journalists went to school, but a dataset that meaningfully advances scientific research is a step too far??
Bluesky be like "Look at those multicolored streams of our text visualized in 3D." and then gets pissed off at the assembly of a dataset that could be used by everyone from social scientists to Machine Learning Engineers to further understand the nature of us. This is the open internet.
Releasing: a dataset of two million Bluesky posts.

This dataset has been collected using Bluesky's API, and I hope it will be useful for all the researchers out there!

This website ran their js source through the nastiest obfuscator I’ve legit ever seen. Just for me to find that they left the original code in a public GitHub repo. Cybersecurity is funny sometimes
