The border “crisis” was largely a TV narrative, and we need to be fighting back against it now. Demilitarizing the southern border will only make us safer. Over policing doesn’t work. The Rio Grand valley should be an economic powerhouse and instead it’s a dead zone split with barbed wire.

How many GOP votes would it take to make Massie speaker of the house? He’s a crazy person but he’s crazy in this one very specific way that would save a lot of people.

At a time where First Amendment rights are being attacked, I’m still desperate to find a solution for the bad-faith media apparatus. We have to make libel and slander laws much broader. Litigation seems the only tool against Fox and Newsmax who lie hundreds of times a day.

If ICE and Border Patrol tactics are this stupid and chaotic in US cities, can you even imagine how stupid and chaotic they are at the border? How much of our “border crisis” has been CBP stepping in front of cars to kill “drug smugglers.”

Reject this narrative.

Demilitarize the Mexican-American border. Kill the profitability of coyote smuggling. Recognize Mexican IDs. Not everyone coming to the US wants to live here, some want to work seasonally and go home.

I feel more indebted to my neighbor who baked me one loaf of bread than I do to my employer, who’s paid me thousands of dollars.

The power of the gift economy is constantly overlooked, and we wonder why our communities are miserable.

New coinage from The Downballot Discord: "margin bro."

Definition: A polling analyst who only looks at the margin between the top two choices and ignores undecideds. Mildly pejorative.

Usage:

"The Dem is at -5 favorability!"

"He's at 20% fave, 25% unfave, 55% don't know. Don't be a margin bro."

I shocked people think this was even a question? Zohran clearly had to cash in a lot of favors to get so much so quickly. This being the most obvious price-to-play.

This is why I said Leftists can’t hold power because they can’t compromise. Zohran is actually governing, this is what it takes.
NEW: Mayor Mamdani is set to endorse Gov. Hochul’s reelection run this week, providing her a critical inroad with progressive voters, per four sources.

It deals a near fatal blow to Antonio Delgado's campaign.

The endorsement, expected this week, gives Hochul a critical inroad with left-leaning voters.

In Minneapolis, masked federal agents, dressed as soldiers, have fatally shot two American citizens. Both were victims of an occupation.

The lurid fantasy at the heart of the gun rights movement is playing out, but the leading roles, as they were previously imagined, have been reversed.

I taught a class on “hope” last year and the few theorists who’ve written on it all point out that hope is the harder choice - that despair is easy and too often fashionable
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.

Good to see that many Dem elected officials now want to be seen getting involved in the cases of immigrants who have been wrongly detained by ICE.

Let's spare a word for @vanhollen.senate.gov, who did this for Kilmar Abrego Garcia back when wise pundits said this was politically dangerous.

If it hadn’t been for MeToo, way too many of these Epstein names would have still been Democrats. Republicans welcomed them with open arms.

We have a LOT of Dems to replace. We can’t do it all in 1 voting cycle.

I’m no expert, but it seems to me like our biggest personal payback will come from a LOCAL focus, supporting the state reps, Congresspeople & Senators WE ACTUALLY WANT instead of just shitting on the people who are there now.
