Christmas morning loveliness. Amazing how intense it is, yet only a small part of the sky (two photos from same spot).

Yes! And I haven’t been able to be on here as much recently so please post below or tag me in a comment or whatnot.
I love seeing your AOTY lists. If you don't like doing them or can't be bothered, that's totally fine, but don't refrain from it because you think "Meh, nobody's going to want to see mine". Yes I do! Show me!

Spaciousness. That’s what I needed and decided to embrace and to try to offer to others. Feeling that fierce and tender and open way of being at the end of the year—and excited for more to come. It’s endless.

From winter solstice family night. Wishing you all a time of deep and quiet nurturing. As one kid said while star gazing, there are wonders in the dark.

One I’ve played a lot this year and definitely either missed or underrated so glad to see Dagdrøm get some more attention

This sounds like it could be a metaphor for hope. It is not. Darkness is not negative. It’s just about staying present to the various cadences of change—and everything is always transitioning.

I love being at airports and seeing weird facsimiles of people you know from all parts of your life strolling around. It’s like, “hey, shorter Lucas!” or “Whatcha doing screening passengers, Lance from IT with a longer beard?”

They really are scrambling and desperate, huh? Such weak shit.

I don’t quite know why but this raw, antifascist atmo black metal with muppetish vocals came out at the beginning of 2025 and stuck with me all year.

Deciding what counts as healthcare is about the most fundamental way to regulate medicine. “Sovereign is the one who decides” etc etc
CMS is saying they can do this because this care is not "healthcare" and thus they aren't regulating practice of medicine... seems like a slippery slope? what stops them from next saying abortion isn't healthcare?
Under the proposed rule issued by the Trump Administration today, any Medicare- or Medicaid-participating hospital would be barred from providing gender-affirming care to *any child*, even if the care is not paid for by Medicare or Medicaid.

And of course Ross Douthat is using his NYT column today to just repeat the claims this piece made.
I read that whole “it sucks to be a millennial white man thanks to DEI” piece and have some thoughts.

Overall: how sad to put that much work into making a case to be resentful, and a bad case at that. (Thread)

Definitely a key little moment in my musical listening this year: my pathway into Cult of Luna. Been playing them so much recently.
Strange, but this video feels like it captured the heart of what Cult of Luna is about in a way that is making their music finally click—which it never has for me. Thanks @ilomikkuli.bsky.social for the link.

I read so you didn’t have to: you have to “opt in” to be findable, so there’s nothing you need to opt out of or switch off.

Still: good lord no I don’t want anything even close to that option
