What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

Your Thanksgiving leftovers are only safe for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. Longer than this places you at high risk for food borne illness.

Freeze your foods for longer storage.
What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

If you try to “warm up” a gravitationally bound system (of, e.g., stars or dark matter) by adding heat, you end up making it colder; if you take heat away, you make it warmer

Hi! I specialize in medication toxicity. All available, real-world data has proven mifepristone is actually even safer than many over the counter medicines.

Mortality rates:

Mifepristone: 0.65/100,000
Penicillin 2/100K
Viagra 4/100K

Pregnancy in the US: 22/100,000 (some states see rates >60/100K)

Are we not aware that the health department can not pay farm workers? Imagine the optics of paying migrant workers! Or not aware that farm workers losing even a single paycheck is devastating? CDPH guidance is sound here.
Farmworkers have avoided bird flu testing bc they don't have paid sick days. Rather than offering to cover that loss, health departments have modified guidelines so that they can work while sick.
