Isabella Tree's TED talk is out! 🗣️🍃

We may think of rewilding as something huge - restoring nature and wildlife in vast landscapes - but anyone who has a garden, backyard or window box can do it.

Isabella tells us how. Watch the talk ⬇️

Tonight, the Woodcock Moon rises. 🌕

Folklore whispers of Woodcocks awaiting this moonlit night to cross the seas & arrive in huge numbers on our shores.

It was believed tiny Goldcrests journeyed with them, riding on their backs!

It will be our second Supermoon of the year.

Good advice 👍. Dumped pumpkins would enrich the soil on heathlands allowing non-heathland species to encroach on this sensitive habitat.
A gentle reminder not to dump your Halloween #pumpkins in our woods (or indeed anywhere!)🎃 Dumped pumpkins can disturb the sensitive balance of woodland soils. Plus removing the waste costs time & money better spent on vital conservation work. 🌱
Pumpkins belong in your food waste or compost bin.♻️🙏

When in the woods, best beware of dead man's fingers lurking there.
Reaching up above the ground, a creepy fungi to be found.

Happy Halloween everyone.

The 1st record of Bittersweet Moth at Cold Harbour this morning was quite apt, as it may be some time before I next trap @ the site. My 2nd Oak Rustic, a brace of Streak, & a single Diamondback Moth were the other highlights amongst a welcome 66/20 after a wet & windy night @dorsetmoths.bsky.social
