Yeah, fuck you, this completely misses the point. It's not the entire internet's job to babysit children, and we shouldn't have to give up our right to privacy to protect 12 year olds from the horrors of seeing boobs online.

Charli xcx is for better or worse an artist who refuses to go anyway but her own, and this is a movie that shows just how hard that is, and what she feels it would be like if she let other people choose her path for her. And in a meta sense, this is her ending the Brat era on her own terms. 8/8

I don’t think this is something that will have much appeal outside of her fanbase or the very least fans of the Brat album, which might mean I’m just talking to the wind here. But for said fans, it’s a surprisingly honest and insightful look into how an artist views her own fame. 7/?

It’s also worth noting that as the film progresses, we get more and more territory of shit that absolutely did not happen, so I see this sort of as a “what if I crashed the fuck out and then sold the fuck out” type of weird AU and personally I think that’s interesting. 6/?

I think what really stands out to me is that Charli wrote and produced this movie and plays herself, yet it often comes off like she’s the villain of her own story. Perhaps that really is how she sees herself. 5/?

It’s a very honest portrayal of the double edged sword of being sort of a niche popstar that explodes into mainstream popularity. Brat was the album where she had the most creative control and was the most unapologetically herself. 2/?

The Moment is a truly fascinating movie. A satirical mockumentary loosely based on real events that shifts into more of a “what if” style AU. Like Charli herself it is relentless, unapologetic, funny, insightful, vulnerable, and messy (in a good way). 1/?

I know there’s a lot of pressure to yell and rage at a lot of people, but we need be relentless to everyone trying to do this to us. Politicians, corporations, payment processors, they must ALL know we will not stand for this.
I’m glad to see people protesting Discord forcing IDs for age verification, but what I need everyone to understand is that there’s immense bipartisan pressure to make the entire internet like this, and they are likely going to succeed unless something drastic happens

She was also asked to denounce white supremacy because white supremacists believe her to be on their side and instead of doing that she threatened to sue. The ACLU had to intervene. I’m not saying she’s full Maga, but I doubt she cares about what’s happening. And why would she? She’s a billionaire.

Did we get Taylor Swift though? She hangs out with Maga scum and on her last album sang Cancelled, a whole song about how cool they are. In that same album she also referred to a woman of color as a dog. And she hasn’t exactly spoken out against Trump or ICE since the election. Like, at all.
