Others are understandably highlighting the many and explicit anti-trans aspects of the Brown University agreement, but this section mandating pro-Israel programming and mandatory involvement of Israeli academics is also important to note:
a. Brown is committed to taking significant, proactive, effective steps to combat antisemitism and ensure a campus environment free from harassment and discrimination. These shall include actions to support a thriving Jewish community, research and education about Israel, and a robust Program in Judaic Studies, through outreach to Jewish Day School students to provide information about applying to Brown, resources for religiously observant Jewish community members, renewed partnerships with Israeli academics and national Jewish organizations, support for enhanced security at the Brown-RISD Hillel, and a convening of alumni, students, and faculty to celebrate 130 years of Jewish life at Brown in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Brown University is caving to Trump.

They are banning trans women from female bathrooms, dorms, locker rooms, and sports across campus. They're also cracking down on trans care for minors, though that is unlikely to be broadly impactful since it's a university.

He's responsible for the execution of between 1,356 and 4,340 detainees - this doesn't include those who died under torture.

General Mahfouz was killed by Rebels in May 2013.

The announcement came in a recorded speech before the #UN Human Rights Council. Al-Shibani reaffirmed the #Syriangovernment's commitment to transitional justice, highlighting its cooperation with the UN-established International Impartial and Independent Mechanism to uncover the fate of missing persons in #Syrianprisons, that was recently granted access to the country. He also emphasized the new authorities' determination to pursue and hold those responsible for crimes accountable. Al-Shibani also called on the international community to support efforts to achieve transitional justice and lift sanctions on #Syria.
