Kinda insane that the MMH breach has been public knowledge since halfway through last year and mainstream reporting is only just catching up on it

I'd never support an extraterritorial extraction of a leader to justify regime change so an exile population can return home, imagine if we kidnapped the president of South Africa and all ... Ok hold up

you don’t actually have to tow the line on foreign policy out of some immensely misguided respect for ‘national unity’ or whatever. this is a coalition government that is actively supporting genocide and US state terrorism. give people a fucking alternative asap please
so Hipkins could completely scoop Luxon AND set the frame for the discourse by making even a quite muted announcement on Venezuela. why are Labour so FUCKING BAD at comms OR being in the right side of history?

Its kinda ironic that the US is accusing Maduro of Narco terrorism when they've just bombed civilian infrastructure through coked up helicopter pilots

Curtis Sliwa here beating every single half assed chat gpt political commentator by pointing out that Mamdani has been around for a while, and 100k volunteers and solid retail politics - not tiktok - won the Mayoralty.
this is the most incredible interview i’ve ever read. the aei guy tries so hard to get sliwa to trash mamdani and he simply won’t. he also brings up flaco (rip) unprompted.

People complain about the idea of like a centrally run product design and delivery system in favour of some kind of private alternative but everyone in NZ with new things seems to just own shit from Kmart and Temu these days anyway like the only difference is some fuckwit is profiting lmao.

Western excess is going to end voluntarily or as a result of polycrisis. There's no political or cultural power strong enough to keep the gravy train flowing and it'd be nice to see more politicians begin to get serious about redistributive degrowth.

A scroll through Bishops posting history is enough to void him as any ally of anyone who even pretends at moderate social or economic centrism, let alone leftism. He is, at best, an ecological fascist.

sorry but if Hipkins knew about the original mcskimming allegations then his leadership is actually untenable. he HAS to go

i guess the other thing to note about this, is it reveals somewhat the extent to which powerful people avoid paper trails so that there is less transparency and accountability. what else gets treated in this way?

One of the greatest indictments of Ardern's political project is how she's distanced herself from NZ politics despite leveraging her time as prime minister for increasingly vast personal gain and to grow recognition abroad. Sort of a political version of startups in NZ that just aim to be bought out

When people talk about what they liked about Mamdani's campaign they talk about the promise to make community supermarkets or how he made a genuine effort to engage with voters. No one except for wonks picked up on the fucking fonts and signs lmao

I do love (hate) that the 90s have been so totally memory holed beyond Ruthanasia in NZ. The misery inflicted on people was terrible sure but there are like a dozen people with names and address who made dozens of millions from that misery who live happy lives lmao.

The reason techbroes are scared of AGI is it'll completely invalidate them as a class, there's no need for tech billionaires if we have general intelligences that can make impartial decisions. This is why they want to develop and control any potential for singularity, so it can be slaved to them

This is actually deranged, there's no universe where this style of legislation, complete caving to the industry that privately benefits at the taxpayer expense, is a fair and just process!

It's legitimately shocking how few people have even a passing understanding of the second world war. There's not really any excuse esp given even western history from the 1990s has generally been more balanced (noteworthy exceptions such as Beevor).
