Smith & Marx gave us an expansive vision of the part played by economic organisation in the historical evolution of societies. Economic analysis is but an important moment in a much broader search for an understanding of humanity and the possibilities for our development.

The public has the right to question how CBS will ensure the independence and integrity of its journalism going forward.

I strongly urge @thenewschool.bsky.social to extend the deadline for faculty to consider separation packages, engage in good faith & protect the programs that make New School a globally renowned institution.

A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Behind the many factors accounting for the stark difference between Bolsonaro’s and Trump’s fates lies a simpler reality: social struggle supports institutions that sometimes punch up, holding powerful people accountable; in its absence, they pretty much never do.

On a footballing note... I don't think the world quite grasps how absolutely extraordinary the moment when Scotland sealed their qualification for the 2026 World Cup at almost the 98th minute of their match against Denmark really was.... Turn up the volume for full effect.

Economics, in the hands of Adam Smith: “The liberal reward of labour... is the natural symptom of increasing national wealth."

Economics, 250 years of technological progress later: "for wage growth to be sustainable, it needs to be consistent with 2 percent inflation".

Is there an accepted term to describe the presumed division of people into different groups like “us” and “them” in regular speech? It is one of the most revealing things about a speaker’s outlook.
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"
