Y’all. Proximity doesn’t breed anything but proximity.
It’s pretty wild that the most rabidly anti-immigrant administration in recent memory is comprised of a President married to an immigrant, a VP married to the daughter of immigrants, an assistant AG in charge of Civil Rights who’s an immigrant (Dhillon), & it was all funded by an immigrant (Musk).

Perception is so funny. When I am by myself there are people that swear I am the whitest white and couldn’t possibly be Latinx or Spanish speaking. Standing next to any family members it’s constant a)assumptions I speak Spanish (I do!) and b)”what are you/y’all”

The British Museum has launched a long-term loans program that sent 80 Greek and Egyptian antiquities to India in “a rebranding exercise that preserves colonial power structures while pretending to dismantle them,” writes Emiline Smith.
British Museum Launches Farcical “Decolonizing” Loan Program
Long-term loans to former colonies are not restitution. They do not acknowledge historical wrongdoing, nor do they restore agency to source communities.

Best money I spent all year? I ordered a POUND of bluebonnet seeds. Keep ‘em in my car. I’ve spent December sprinkling them around town whenever the spirit moves and come March, I’m going to get a little spark of happiness every time I see a random bluebonnet patch.

Sigh. I made my classroom no-AI and it’s impossible to do it without moving back to paper and pencil, so I’m back to the bad old days of having stacks and piles of paper everywhere and I hate that.

Welp, I’ve lived many years of middle schoolers the day before a break and now I’ve experienced high schoolers before a break and: no comparison. Not even close. I don’t even want to know what the elementary school teachers lived through

Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, a freshman at Brown, had a condition as a child that required brain surgery. The experience created an unshakable ambition to become a brain surgeon, his sister said.

He died after being shot on campus on Saturday.

Can confirm. I’m just a random public school teacher who shows up occasionally for public comment, but I live in a city of a million where fewer than 10% of people vote.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.
