I'm here for the docs, the death metal and the donuts. Actually, I'm not here for the donuts, but the alliteration was hard to pass up.

Geographically confused.

Current: Athens, Write the Docs.
Ex: Berlin, Portugal, UK, Travis CI, Buildkite, etc

OOOOF, that's creepy great.
Ooh, this is the creepiest take on a time-travel story that I've read in a long time, dark and excellent:
NEW STORY DAY!

“I Met You on the Train” is now out at @uncannymagazine.bsky.social

Don't mind me, I've just generated 40000 lines of RST from an excel file. Godspeed folks reviewing this PR.

Shout out to the storage unit rental place that decided Christmas day was the correct day to announce a 20% rent increase.

"Coding is no longer the bottleneck".

So what you're saying is that NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

This is just to say

I have read
the book
that was in
your training data

And which
you had absorbed
as mere
statistics

Forgive me
your summary
misses the point
of reading at all.
The “AI” has not read the book.

Even if the book
was in its training data,
it has just absorbed it
as a set
of statistics.
It will juggle you a “summary”
that might
or might not
relate to the conclusions
of the actual text.

The only way
you’ll know
is to read it
yourself.

There are still a lot of smart people who seem to be surprised and upset that they can't make AI stop making shit up. Like that's literally what it does. "I told it not to do that!" Cool. But you it can't understand right? You're not giving it "instructions". It's just words.

I worked in an IKEA restaurant where customers struggled to find the trays.

We made a sign using a tray, suspended vertically from the ceiling on a pair of hooks, which only read:

⬇️ TRAYS ⬇️

Every day, someone would stare at this sign for a moment, then they'd unhook it and walk off with it.
