The books:

Jack Vance's THE LANGUAGES OF PAO (1958)
Fredric Brown's MARTIANS, GO HOME (1955)

I planned to discuss Philip Jose Farmer's THE GREEN ODYSSEY (1957) and forgot! Why? Because I was too busy self-flogging, obviously! (We'll save it for the next hodgepodge.)

The latest free-wheelin' Daily Zig features two genuinely funny comics, then what might be Tom Wilson II's most baffling works in his entire career. Zig-it-up!

My account was deleted from that application because their moderators determined my bodily person contains more than one drop of (their words) “Jewish blood”, but I will look into this.

Others prefer The Onion headlines that are jokes meant to make readers laugh, but personally I enjoy ones like these that provoke a sad smirk, a single clap, and a solemn nod of agreement.

May I please have your attention? I have a short story in the latest issue of the fine literary journal The Raleigh Review. It is about an accident-prone small town Louisiana sheriff’s deputy. You may purchase the issue from your favorite local bookseller or here: raleighreview.org/print-issues...

I would guess around 1987 he played the original The Legend of Zelda at a Nintendo demo kiosk in a Montgomery Ward.
Do you think Ziggy has played Zelda

Interesting. I always thought these were children’s games where you press a button to make the little elf boy swing his sword.
History matters in Zelda games. They imagine wars as multi-generational efforts where battles of the past set up the victories of the future. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment makes that explicit, even if its thin action doesn’t feel terribly warlike. My review. www.polygon.com/hyrule-warri...

Career highlight! This summer I went to Fraunces Tavern with Ken Burns to talk about American history. That interview is now live at @vanityfair.com

Ken Burns Knows Who Won the American Revolution: “Ne’er-Do-Wells, Felons, and Immigrants”
“I vowed after ‘The Civil War’ not to do any more war films,” says the master documentarian. “It hurt too much.” Lucky for us, he couldn’t keep his promise—paving the way for The American Revolution...

I am headed to the White House today with 753 sacks of barely used Quarters Pounder with Cheese to “grease the wheels” re: my bid for this corporation.

There are two important public services in this episode. The usual public service of Ziggy recaps and a new public service warning about the risk of vomiting that comes from tending to a home fireplace.
A new DAILY ZIG, our longest yet, in which I explain how I made myself throw up.

I enjoyed this film because, like Godard, I too am so advanced artistically that I do not have to work more than one hour per day.
NOUVELLE VAGUE is the origin story of Jean-Luc Godard, and, in a way, of Richard Linklater himself.

Even more importantly, it’s a manual for what he hopes will be a fresh wave of talent storming the shore any minute. (I’m counting on it.)

Richard Linklater zips back to re-create the shoot of Jean-Luc Godard's scrappy low-budget "Breathless," producing a primer on how to go your own way.

I doubt Mr. Mamdani will have much impact on what the women of New York City wear, but it is true that after Mayor Giuliani was elected, many women began styling their hair in combovers.
So here's Andrew Cuomo reacting to Maria Bartiromo wondering if Mamdani will "change the look of New York" and have Muslim women "completely covered up," telling her that Mamdani "doesn't understand New York culture" because he has "dual citizenship" and "he's a citizen of Uganda."

Then perhaps it would behoove him to be more accepting of their homosexuality.

Some personal news: I am in final negotiations to take over hosting duties for the program “WTF”. There is only some minor disagreement about the title. The current owners would like it to be “WTF with Brian Thompson” but I prefer to maintain continuity by changing my name to Marc Maron.

All due respect, but it is clear this man is one of the most ignorant cast members from The Real World: Boston. This is not a proper usage of “begs the question”.
Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."
