Look, in a #ttrpg I don't want to be the hero. I just want to experience a world and delve into its secrets. I want to meet other characters and most of all I want the freedom to choose to be a hero.

Thought I’d give this one a read through soon. #ad&d2e Domains of Dread is the Ravenloft campaign setting book, and (I’m hoping) will help me make a small Ravenloft adventure or mini campaign, perhaps to be run with The Black Hack or Old School Essentials.

My public, open table, 1st Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game had 13 players today. We had one brand new player. There were 2 players that hadn’t been to my public game in a couple years who both happened to show up today. And we had a players mom join us! #ttrpg #osr #ad&d

Finally reacquired a full set of BECMI books (only had the Expert book left), much more reasonable to get the loose books without boxes. Been making a slow foray into solo play while also running Keep on the Borderlands for friends.

Let's add some #OSRpositivity. There's a lot of talk about definitions and history of OSR, and it usually circles around nostalgia, return to idealized past experiences, etc. Has anyone written/talked about OSR with new players? About how they hold up when nostalgia and oral history are not there?

Had a fucking blast running a We Deal in Lead one-shot for some friends today. Kept it extremely simple — two gunslingers visit an abandoned town to hunt an order member who had been turned — and it was just the right balance of silliness and horror.

one can feel however one feels about the OSR or whatever, but the formatting and usability standards that Old School Essemtials and Mothership have brought to the table in their publications are leagues beyond anything WOTC or the other big kids are doing.
