Never mind the weather, I think the real story is that Chop Gate's been moved into Middlesbrough, according to Tyne Tees.

A lunchtime visit to Whittlesea today. No DC Rail #SaturdaySandTrain as the empties didn't go to Norfolk yesterday. Instead a VSTP 6Z92 Eccles Rd Johnstone's Sdg to Chaddesden Sidings, captured here with hired-in 60047 'Scafell Pike' brightening up the dull day. 15/11/25

Happy 31st Birthday eurostar! On this day in 1994, the first commercial services started. 2 trains a day each way between London and Paris/Brussels back then.

The Alstom built class 180, a bit funny looking, and squeal like a pig when braking! A sight and sound that won’t be around for much longer. I’ll be sad to them go, though I’m sure others won’t!

A variety of wagons on 6K05, which makes for some interest. It's also a fairly lengthy train so even if I positioned myself elsewhere you'd have struggled to see the rear!

#Brussels 🇧🇪 in March 2002: an #SNCB #NMBS Class 20 electric is seen here with a #EuroCity consist. This used to be the usual setup for loco-hauled trains on the line to #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 for many years: the six-axle Class 20 was able to develop the power necessary on the gradients of the #Ardennes line.

Taken on my visit to Northern's Heaton Traincare Centre for a feature which appears in the current issue of The Railway Magazine. Important not to get these mixed up! Final drive oil (purple containers), Class 156 and 158 hydraulic oil (black containers) and coolant (green containers).

Photo taken exactly 25 years ago. I very well remember the date: I had just learned about the terrible Kaprun funicular disaster, watching TV in my hotel room in Nice.
