Eva Schloss, an Auschwitz survivor who dedicated her life to speaking out against prejudice and to preserving the legacy of her stepsister, Anne Frank, died on Saturday in London at 96.

A Class 754 diesel of the Slovak Railways is being coupled onto a rake of equally Slovak cars in view of a departure for #Bratislava 🇸🇰 via #Marchegg. The site, now home to the #Hauptbahnhof, has undergone a substantial transformation.
Alp Grüm🇨🇭on the #Bernina line in August 2011. Picture of an #RhB museum special: locomotive no. 182, nicknamed “Bernina Crocodile”, built 1928, is hauling two Pullman carriages. This #UNESCO world heritage line, reaching above 2,000 metres a.s.l., is said to be Europe’s highest railway crossing.

Going through that box filled with childhood stuff. It, i.a., contains #ÖBB 🇦🇹 cardboard tickets like this one, St. Ruprecht bei #Villach to #Sattendorf, stamped in August 1972. Nine Austrian Schillings the round trip for an adult, my auntie. We often went to lake #Ossiachersee for an afternoon swim.

Ospizio Bernina, early 2000s: a consist led by two Rhaetische Bahn #RhB🇨🇭#ABe4/4 railcars has just arrived from St. Moritz. These vehicles, originally built in 1908 and re-modelled in the 1940s, were almost 100 years old when I took the photo. And it wasn’t a museum train, just an ordinary working.
