Ganesh is absolutely right here. And also why there is no guarantee *at all* that a federal Europe would be some paragon of liberal values — progressive EU fans should be careful what they wish for.
“There is no longer only a liberal case for a unified continent, but one that is more about strength in numbers against external predators.”

I don’t think these are mutually exclusive at all.
The right will want a United States of Europe
Conservatives will come to see a unified continent as the only defence against America and China

Posts shared on Facebook incorrectly claim former Prime Minister Liz Truss is entitled to a £125,000 per year “ex PM pension for life”.

Former prime ministers can claim up to £115,000 a year for certain expenses, but this isn’t a pension.

RIP Nobel Peace Prize, 1901-2025. It was a brave ideal but was always a bit shaky and now has sunk into the Trumpian mire of vainglory and confusion.

Donald Trump Hates America
He shows it with his middle finger, literally, and by his daily attacks against American interests and our people. He must be defeated.

Could somebody please inform Lord Frost that literally nobody abroad could give a (too much of a Lady to use the expression on my mind) about Tory (or other party political) infighting but they care very much how the UK positions itself in this time of geopolitical upheaval and democratic crisis.
This intro to David Frost's Telegraph column sums up so much that is wrong with British politics.

I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't... www.tom-cox.com/the-village-...
The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

I don't think people realise just what a mess these absolute clowns would make. Of the economy, the Budget, diplomacy, industrial relations, trade, the Union, the media - everything. So wildly out of step with mainstream thinking and the median voter they may as well be from Mars.
